Photo Tips

Use natural light — near a window or outdoors works best.

Show your project’s true colors and details. The purpose is to catch the beauty of the colorway in your project. We want people to see how the colorway works up, so focus on the colors of the yarn and making sure they are true to life.

Style it simply — draped, folded, worn, or displayed naturally.

Avoid clutter or chaotic backgrounds. You want the focus of the photo to be the finished object.

Consenting adult faces in the photos are fine, but please avoid sending faces of children or babies.

Avoid filters or heavy editing. Light editing such as cropping or exposure adjustments is fine.

The better the lighting and presentation, the better your chances!

FAQs

Can I submit more than one project?
Yes! You can submit as many projects as you like.

Do I need to use a Mountaintop Yarn pattern?
Nope! You can use any pattern you love. Just make sure to have the pattern name and designer name ready so I can add these details for our viewers.

Can I submit older projects?
Absolutely — as long as they were made with Mountaintop Yarn and follow the photo submission guidelines.

How will I know if I’m chosen?
You’ll receive an email if your project is selected, along with your store credit details.

How often do you choose projects?
Selections are made throughout the year as new submissions come in.

What happens to my photos if I’m chosen?
By submitting, you’re granting Mountaintop Yarn permission to use your photos on the website, newsletters, and social media (with credit to you, of course!).

Can I submit other people's photos?
No. You can only submit photos of finished projects that you made and photographed yourself. Any submissions found to be violating this rule will be immediately rejected and you will not be eligible for participation in this program anymore.

I used more than one colorway, can I get reimbursed for them all?
You will be reimbursed for the amount of yarn the pattern calls for. So, for instance, if you buy 16 skeins of yarn and only use 1 for your project, you will receive store credit for the 1 skein of yarn used in your project.

What can I use the store credit for?
Store credit can be used just like cash/credit for purchases made on the MountaintopYarn.com website or in our brick and mortar store.

Can I get a refund of the amount instead?
No. Refunds to credit cards come with fees and costs to me. Store credit is the easiest way to reimburse you without taking financial loss on my side.
